Enslain Magazine Issue #6
Here we have the self-titled demo from Philadelphia based Trephination. On this six-song tape, they display an obvious influence from your classic death metal acts, but with a little more technicality and double guitar work, and a little less grind action. The sound is not as full as would be expected, giving a more Slayer-esque sound quality, which can also be noted in the song-writing itself. The production is very decent for an 8-track recording, and they sound quite capable of forming a tight and technical sound. However, they don't really add much that you can't hear elsewhere. There are some good riffs and songs on this album, though, so I'd keep an eye out for shows and future releases.
