Slack

NE Plus Ultra Enslain Magazine Issue #6
This 8 song demo from North Jersey's Slack may be clean and well produced, but there is so little going on here that it's not hard to sound tight. The general sound here is comparable at times to Ugly Kid Joe, Alice In Chains, and perhaps Corrosion of Conformity. Certainly not the heaviest stuff out there, just barely metal, but aside from that, I don't feel that Slack have anything to offer to any classification of music. Each of the members displays some talent... there are some good riffs, and the vocals are decent, but as a band, it just doesn't work; there's nothing new here. Some of the more notable songs are "Bitch," a quickly sung 20 second hate song, and a cover of Gary Numan's "Cars," which, unfortunately for them was recently done a lot better by Fear Factory. Sorry! Add in some heavier influences for next release, and there may be a chance of redemption. -- Lady Enslain
