Monolith play a blend of metal... it's not death metal, it's not black, it's hardly thrashy, but yet it's much heavier than power/progressive, or neo-metal. So what is it then? Well... This is metal. Having influences from death and hardcore, and some heavy grooves, when it comes down to it, this is just metal. It has an aggressive sound with repeating riffs and rough vocals, and it's done really well. Good, solid songs and tight production give Monolith an edge in this scene. Harmonizing guitars mixed with bass help give these songs some depth beyond the deep, crushing bass lines. Adding some heavier or darker influences could add nicely to these Virginians' sound, but they are good nonetheless. -- Lady Enslain
