Enslain Magazine Issue #6
Dissent describe themselves as being "prog-core," a mix between progressive and hardcore. Honestly, I don't see either genre as being entirely accurate. They don't have a lot of technicality to their songs, and they don't have the repetitivity of hardcore. So instead of labeling, I shall simply describe it. The guitarwork is of a slightly technical thrashy nature, and the rhythm section is rather clean and simple. The vocals are moderately-pitched singing, a mix between what you'd expect from a progressive band, and a local hard rock band. If this sounds interesting, be sure to pick up a copy of this Massachussettes based seven song CD.
