Enslain Magazine Issue #8
Can there ever be too much death metal from Ohio? One would think there already is, but this demo is a strong attempt at disproving that theory. Clean production displays an obvious tightness that this band has already achieved, while highlighting the darkness and melody behind the riffs. The songs are arranged well, not getting repetitive but still allowing themselves to catch. The grinding drum moments are offset by the occasional subtle keyboards. The vocals are half growled, and half screeched, and are sometimes layered overtop of each other. The riffing is sometimes brutal, sometimes rhythmic, but always fairly creative. This demo is only two (rather lengthy) songs, but itís enough to tell that youíll be hearing about Blood Coven.
