Enslain Magazine Issue #7
I can fairly confidently say that 40 Grit is destined for some sort of success... Playing the style that the Bay Area is commonly known for, mixing thrash with neo-metal aspects, 40 Grit has everything needed for radio airplay and legions of young fans. Aside from the ever present hooks and highly active yet simple bass lines, they have common song structures and cleanly sung vocals. Though the structures may be simple, the riffs themselves make the timing sound more complex. For what it is, it's good, yet not grounbreaking by any means. They don't have any of the more annoying, trendy elements within their music, and for this they can be praised. You can look out for a new release on Metal Blade Records some time in the glorious Y2K.
