Vivaldi: The Meeting

Vivaldi: The Meeting (Thirsty Ear)
Enslain Magazine Issue #7
Order Issue #7! This review included.
This is truly a bizarre album. Who would ever expect to hear legendary metal drummer Dave Lombardo playing improvising to classical instrumentation? That's precisely what you will find in this album... Vivaldi songs performed by classical musicians with the addition of drums in places where you wouldn't expect them. It's very interesting at first, during the first song you start to see yourself in a medieval setting watching a classical concert with Lombardo on stage wearing a poet shirt and tights. The second track is killer also, it's like a more enjoyable and aggressive version of a clip from Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons." But when the operatic vocals kick in, it becomes a little too... well let's just say that's the main reason I don't listen to classical in the first place! But there are definitely some highlights on this album that make it worth having. -- Lady Enslain
