(MeteorCity) Enslain Magazine Issue #8
Leave it to a Swedish band to even write happy stoner rock. The Quill's music consists of the heavy groove-laden progressions, but put to faster paced drumming with a lot of hi-hat predominance. Vocally, we can be reminded of glam rock, but without the super-high frequencies and with lyrical content that isn't quite so mindless. I think the vocals will be what sells this release, finding itself the most forthcoming element of the mix, and appealing to fans of that style, who'd prefer it backed by less ridiculous music. Though a bit too rockish for my blood, I can guess that The Quill's re-released, ideally produced and retro-refreshing album will go over well with fans of this sound.
