Death Cult For Eternity : The Triumph
Enslain Magazine Issue #5
This album comes from Ohio-based The Chasm. It was released in early '97, and they have had albums prior to this one. Their popularity is slowly growing, and was greatly helped by the good response they got for their incredible show at 98's Milwaukee Metalfest. The Chasm's sound has got a lot of variety, ranging from slow, atmospheric songs with accoustic/electric guitar mixtures, to a fast, relentless grind beat and screaming vocals, and anything in between. The riffs are composed mostly of individually played notes as opposed to chords, which I am quite fond of, and the songs are quite original. I would consider Death Cult For Eternity to be death metal, but not the heaviest out there. They have a lot more to offer than just heaviness. They've got great music and uniqueness.
