Solstice

New Dark Age (Misanthropy)
Enslain Magazine Issue #6
Order Issue #6! This review included. If Solstice can be considered "doom," then this is by far the best doom release I've ever heard. It's slow, but not overwhelmingly so, and it's dark, but not necessarily evil. It's not like anything I've ever heard. There's something very Renaissantic about "New Dark Age," in many ways. It's hauntingly pure, and creatively simplistic. Morris Ingram's vocals give the songs such feeling, with his clean high-toned alto, and Olde English dialect. There are a lot of instrumentals, some slow and acoustic, yet others of a faster, heavier nature. Solstice can be a great band to listen to for candlelit seances, peaceful evenings, or simply for a pleasurable listening experience. -- Lady Enslain
