I'm having difficulty understanding the hype behind this release. I'm admittedly not a big fan of hardcore, but I know when their records are good. Now, this music is definitely very solid, with a clean production giving a somewhat mechanical sound. But the songs are a little too radio-friendly, and the vocals aren't a major seller here, just a monotone yell reminiscent of Janes Addiction. There are slight metal roots here, but the repetitive hardcore nature kills any progress. This doesn't even really sound that pit-friendly, so I'm not exactly sure what they're aiming for. It is very unlike any hardcore I've ever heard, so I guess their originality is a plus, but I don't see this as being of interest to the metal listeners. I'd like to re-state, for the record, that this isn't a bad album... I think it just requires the appropriate audience, of which I am unsure who that would be. -- Lady Enslain
