Eternal as Time (Oz Records)
Enslain Magazine Issue #7

Mexico's Shamash create a sound that is unlike any other... The easiest way to describe it, if one is familiar with video games, is to picture Castlevania-esque atmosphere, interesting and exciting, yet gloomy and unknowing, backing fast technical death metal. I don't know if this was the intended effect behind the music, but listening closely enough you can imagine it as such. The songs are complex, and there's a lot of variation from the faster death metal tracks to the beautiful and intricate acoustic hymns. The music is definitely an earful, and requires a few listens to sink in, but it's worth it. Enjoy thy strolls through the Transylvanian castle, backed by the brutality of the beating of thine frightened heart. -- Lady Enslain
