Plan E

Songs for a Rainy Day (Root-O-Evil/Solardisk)
Enslain Magazine Issue #6
Order Issue #6! This review included. Plan E are about as original as one can get without losing musical clarity. It took me a while to figure out what really gave this disc a unique sound quality, unlike any I'd ever heard from a metal release... upon closer inspection I realized that, though there is a heavy sound on this album, there are no guitars; only two bass guitars. This gives off an unconventionally tight and mechanical sound. Simple keyboards and drumming, and distorted mid-range sung vocals add to the bassy sound, creating a rather upbeat atmosphere. Plan E feature members of Impaled Nazarene and Terveet Kadet, but retain none of their qualities. This is a highly intriguing project that deserves some recognition. -- Lady Enslain
