Old Man's Child

Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion (Century Media)
Enslain Magazine Issue #5
Order Issue #5! This review included.
If you are familiar with Century Media releases, you will agree with me that most of their releases seem to have a structured format, starting out with an atmospheric instrumental piece as the first track, to get your attention. Well, Old Man's Child has done that on this album, and it is perhaps one of the best intros I've heard. It begins with an eery synth sound and adds in old fashioned sounding piano to the mix, giving a very old and spooky sound, which is then mixed with relentless drumming and guitars, with the organs fading to the background. This song and the rest represent black metal at it's finest, creative, fast, evil, and pleasing to the ear. Joining the ranks on their 3rd studio release is Gene Hoglan (Death, Dark Angel) on drums. The general sound of this album is that of classic guitar riffs, evil sounding keys, tight, fast drums, and a stomachable black metal voice. I can't see how anyone would not enjoy "Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion". In other words, "buy this!" -- Lady Enslain
