Fleshgrind

Destined for Defilement (Pavement)
Enslain Magazine Issue #6
Order Issue #6! This review included. Here we have yet another death metal act resembling Suffocation, more so in the vocal aspect than musically. The lyrics are vicious accounts of slaughter, mutilation, and unmentionable savagery, retold in a blunt and straightforward manner. The songs are well performed, and they do present some interesting musical ideas, however sometimes the ideas are not fully developed, or they are smothered by adjacent passages of lesser quality within the composition. The production of the album is fair, yet the more intricate guitar lines tend to become obscured. My guess is that these gents sound much more intense in a live situation, which is, after all, the ultimate death metal medium. Do check this out. -- Richard
