(Spitfire Records) Enslain Magazine Issue #8
I was really looking forward to doing this review; I've heard how great this album was supposed to be, and I was figuring this was going to be one of the biggest releases for this genre in ages. I can't even get all the way through this album without a severe feeling of suicidal contemplation (just so I don't have to listen anymore). I liked a lot of the older material, and a lot of other music in this genre, but I just can't get into this at all. It is well produced and has a great overall sound, but it's just plain boring. It's slow and drags on and on and on. This, as far as I am concerned, ranks as one of the biggest disappointments in recent memory. The best parts of the album are the little bits between songs. Don't get me wrong, any die hard Dio fans will probably dig this, and even I think there are a few tracks that are acceptable, but I won't admit to liking any of them except for "Fever Dreams," and that song is so 80's it will almost make you sick.
