Kingdom of the Blind (Eclipse Records)
Enslain Magazine Issue #5
Order Issue #5! This review included.
These Philadelphia locals, throughout many member changes, have been headlining small shows and opening for large shows in the area for well over a year now. Their excellent release, "Kingdom of the Blind," insures them the chance to do so for a long time. Cipher offers a new sound, a mixture between straight-out metal, grunge, and a somewhat progressive edge. The music is melodic and original, and the vocals are similar to Chris Cornell, though slightly higher-pitched and cleaner sounding. It is easy to listen through this 13-song CD in its' entirety, but the best tracks in my opinion would be "Nothing Wrong," "Seven Days," and "Needle." "Kingdom of the Blind" is an excellent CD, that will continue to be played on my CD player. -- Lady Enslain
