(X-Rated Records) Enslain Magazine Issue #8
Agony Lords reminds me a bit of some of the heavier 80's metal that was out there. There is some really cool stuff going on here, nice guitar harmonics and judicious use of double bass. There's even a bass player that actually plays instead of just making "low range frequency disruption." Production could really use some help, but it's not the worst I've ever heard. The vocalist is pretty average sounding, without a whole lot of range. Musically, the band seems to be fairly talented, though the sound on the album isn't that great. This album would be worth buying for a lot of people, as it will appeal to more than just a narrow group. If they nail down a bit more range from the vocalist and some good production they should build a good name for themselves.
